Durant's 38 leads Warriors over Cavaliers 113-93, GS leads 1-0. For the 3rd straight year, the NBA Finals has been contested between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The thing that sets this Finals apart from those is that Kevin Durant is now in the mix. In a Clash of the Titans like build up of this series, Durant is an ultimate factor in this matchup. With a sold out crowd in the Oracle Arena, the Warriors fed off that energy all game. For Golden State, KD was the front runner for them scoring 38 points while also grabbing 8 boards and 8 assists. As usual, Steph Curry was a force to be reckon with also, finishing the night with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. The Warriors outmatched Cleveland on the stat sheet, racking in 12 steals, 27 fast break points, and 56 points in the paint. They also forced Cleveland to commit 20 turnovers, opposed to them (GS) only having 4. Shooting wise for GS, they finished 45 for 106 at 42% and shot 12 of 33 from 3 at 36%. On the opposing side, Cleveland was led by LeBron James, who on the night ended with 28 points, 15 rebounds and 8 assists, with his eclipsing of a double-double coming in only the first half. Also leading the Cavs were Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. Irving finished with 24 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists, while Love finished with 15 points, 21 rebounds and 8 assists. From the field the Cavaliers shot 30 of 86 at 34% and 11 of 31 from 3 at 35%. The first 2 quarters of Game 1 displayed some back and forth battle between both teams, but poor defense and bad mistakes with the ball from Cleveland caused Golden State to jump out to a huge lead, as excellent play from Kevin Durant would lead the Golden State Warriors to a 113-93 victory in Game 1. The Warriors now lead 1-0 in the series with Game 2 set to take place Sunday night.

Gustafsson dominates Teixeira, wins by 5th round KOComing into the fight as a hometown favorite, Alexander Gustafsson (18-4) looked to prove to the world why he was the #1 ranked light heavyweight in the world. Standing in his way would be #2 ranked Glover Teixeira (26-6), as they were set to do battle in Gus' home, Stockholm, Sweden. With both fighters coming off decision victories in their last fights, each fighter wanted to come in and get the work done early. In this case, Gustafsson would execute his plan effectively. Round 1 of this fight kicked off and immediately the footwork and reach of Alexander Gustafsson would make Glover Teixeira appear outmatched tremendously. An early single leg slam from Glover picked up the tempo of the fight early, but Gus' quick jabs and uppercuts prevented Teixeira from closing the distance. With 2:18 left in the first round, the fight was stopped because of an eye poke from Gustafson that caught Glover in his right eye. The fight would continue and Gustafson would begin to land some heavy effective strikes, while Glover attempted a late single takedown that was unsuccessful. The first end of round horn sounded and round 2 would be ready to roll after the break. Round 2 began and both fighters would see blood early, as Teixeira was able to establish his jab he opened a cut right above Gus' left eyebrow, while heavy strikes from Gus busted Glover's nose, which was believed to be broken by the end. Some running defense from Gustafsson would save him from taking some heavy shots but Teixeira would soon begin to chase after and connect with some strong hooks. Uppercuts from Gustafsson were a huge factor in this fight, he was able to land one and gain the fight's first knockdown but Teixeira would not let it end that easily. Glover Teixeira was able to bring the fight back to stand up, where Gustafsson landed a nasty spinning elbow that connected with Glover's right eye and Round 2 was now in the books. So far Alexander Gustafsson was leading this fight and it would continue on into the 3rd round. A big factor in this was Gustafsson ability to land his elbows, both standing and on the ground, he was able to hit some hard elbows on Teixeira, who was still struggling to find an edge. Another uppercut knockdown spelled trouble for Glover but his ability on the ground helped him bring the fight back to their fight. Gustafsson began to throw some fast front kicks along with strong jabs and he would once again dominate another round. Round 4 kicked off with Gustafsson landing more front and body kicks, while Teixeira battled back with some good strikes and clinch knees. However, the reach advantage in Gus' favor was too long for Glover as combos, uppercuts and kicks prevented him from landing anything powerful. Teixeira was able to stay up despite Gus' effective landing. Now, Round 5 was here. For Glover Teixeira he would need a big last round to have a chance in this, but it was too late. Alexander Gustafsson would land a powerful right hook to Glover's jaw and win this fight by knockout. This KO win by Gustafsson will now place him in the waiting pool as #1 contender , as he will await the winner of Daniel Cormier vs Jon Jones 2, scheduled for UFC 213 on July 29th.
